Susan began her art career at the Erie Museum in
Pennsylvania as a young child. She continued studying art through
high school and then went on to Kent State University as a Fine
Arts Major. Her medium has always been drawing and painting
and her style is impressionistic realism. She spends about half of
her time painting en plein air and the balance in her studio
working from reference photos. Primarily a pastel artist, Susan
continues to study and paint watercolors as it gives her balance as
she moves from one medium to the other. Her favorite subjects
are figures, portraits, interiors and architecture in
landscape.
Being an active painter, Susan is a member of the art
community. She has shown her work in both local and national
exhibitions and her paintings have won many awards. She is a member
of several art organizations including Connecticut Pastel Society,
Academic Artists, Glastonbury Arts and Tolland County Art
Association where she was President for four years. She also leads
a plein air group during May through September and is a member of
Nutmeg Pastelists with whom she paints weekly and participates in
group shows.
